Why people bully?

There are so many reasons why people bully and not all factors are the same for everyone. In some cases certain actions of one person do not mean that he or she is a bully but in others cases it is exactly why they bully. Here are some of the common factors in all areas, young or old, any gender and any race.
  • Lack of attention from friends, parents, groups or co-workers.
  • Direct actions of frustration, anger, difficulty at home, with parents or work at you in form of bullying.
  • Some have learned bullying from others (parents, brothers or sisters, friends, co-workers or boss).They have seen them getting their way by being angry or pushing other people around. They believe that by putting fear in you, they will have the best shot at everything in school or in your neighbourhood or work area.
  • Bad up-bringing at home can make people insensitive to other people's feelings and emotions. They are happy to see others depressed, sad and hurt.
  • Watching a lot of violent films (movies and TV), and video games can make a person try out violent things. They usually try them out on people who appear smaller or weaker to them.
Possible signs that someone might be a bully.

  • Get into physical or verbal fights.
  • Have friends who bully others.
  • Are increasingly aggressive.
  • Blame others for their problems.
  • Don’t accept responsibility for their actions.
Possible signs that someone is being bullied.
  • Frequent headaches or stomach aches, feeling sick or faking illness.
  • Changes in eating habits, like suddenly skipping meals or binge eating. People may come home from school or work hungry because they did not eat lunch.
  • Declining grades, loss of interest in schoolwork/job, or not wanting to go to school/work.
  • Feelings of helplessness or decreased self esteem
  • Self-destructive behaviors such as running away from home, harming themselves, or talking about suicide.
Who is likely to be bullied?

The following is researched reasons why people usually get bullied. It might NOT be covering all of them, like previously said, every reason and situations is different, but these are the most common reasons why people get bullied.

  • Their size: When someone is either, too small, too skinny, too big, too fat, too tall etc.
  • Bad temper: People with a bad temper are like fuel to a bullies flame, it is so easy to get to them and make them loose that temper.
  • Skin colour: it is very easy for anyone to be bullied due to this reason, for instance in in a domination of a specific colour if another person is different to be bullied for that reason.
  • People who have no friends.
  • Special need (or someone with a physical challenge): Anyone with a disability or mental problem, eye sight or whatever is likely to be bullied, especially with the younger generation for they sometimes are uneducated and do not understand the reasons and see fit to pick on them.
  • An embarrassing moment or event: People might make continues jokes or fun of a situation you got involved in, or something that you said.
  • Religion: You might be bullied just because for what you believe in.
  • Achievements: People that are jealous might just pick on you just because of what you have achieved in school, work or life.
  • Your position: Position in school, at work, at home, within friends. Being too popular or weak link, the favourite.
  • Culture: Just because you are brought up differently or believe in something.
As you all can see that anyone no matter, your position, achievements, size, race, culture or beliefs. That ANYONE can be bullied, so think twice before you do it to someone else for might just come back to you twice as bad.
